Known today as Greek or Turkish coffee, it has its roots in the hills of Ethiopia. The Arab merchants of the 15th century brought it back to the Middle East, and it reached Greece shortly after 1550.
Brewing the perfect cup of coffee is a form of art, akin to preparing tea in Japan. This coffee, prepared in a coffee pot, is the most famous coffee in Greece. In the Middle East, coffee is often mixed with cardamom and other aromatics.
